My window aircon's thermostat causes power to trip when it reaches the point '4'. How to make it work?

It's a Fujitsu General air conditioner, a bit old. The fan does work properly and the thermostat control knob too, upto the point marked '4'. If i try to move it up for cooler air, the MCB trips. There's apparently no cooling at all. A technician said it's something to do with the compressor but I'm not convinced. What do you think? My window aircon's thermostat causes power to trip when it reaches the point '4'. How to make it work?We had the same problem with our window unit. Take it to the carwash and wash it out (this should be done yearly) with the cover on. If that doesn't take care of it, take it to someone who repairs air conditioners. A wire may need to be replaced, if not the compressor. But try washing it out first and see if that helps. Ours used to have a big %26quot;CLUNK%26quot; whenever it would go into a cooling cycle, that cleared it right up and we can run it full boar wiht no problem.
