What would a vehicle temperature gauge read if the thermostat failed to open if the thermostat failed to ?

What would a vehicle temperature gauge read if the thermostat failed to open

if the thermostat failed to close

and how was the water pump driven on this engine?

thanks What would a vehicle temperature gauge read if the thermostat failed to open if the thermostat failed to ?1We do not know Year, make, model or engine size!!

#2 The temp gauge is not controlled by the t-stat, its controlled by the temp sensor , sender , and/or computer

#3 Without knowing what engine we are working with (is it a 1967 327 or a 2006 6.0L) on older vehicles a stuck closed t-stat will cause the engine to get hot and if its stuck open it can cause choke issues with the carb (if you use it to warm up you engine) and the heater(if its winter). If its a newer (computer controlled) engine it can effect fuel economy, overheating issues and engine performance.

#4 As far as %26quot;How is the water pump driven?%26quot; What engine? , It could be either fan belt driven, timing belt driven or cam shaft driven.

GOOD LUCK What would a vehicle temperature gauge read if the thermostat failed to open if the thermostat failed to ?If it failed to open, it would over heat and you would get steam. So, ever 212 F.

If it failed to close, it would be like driving without a thermostat, and the engine would never reach operating temperature.

How is the water pump driven on WHAT engine? It's usually belt driven. What would a vehicle temperature gauge read if the thermostat failed to open if the thermostat failed to ?if the thermostat fails to open then it should read hot. if it reads hot when the thermostat is opened then it could be the water pump, the radiator needs flushing, the fan not working or the heater core is plugged up. most water pumps are driven by a belt.
