About how much does it cost to have a radiator flushed and the thermostat replaced on a 2004 Ford Mustang?

My car overheated and I was told these are two things that might need to be done to my car. I have no idea and I want to be prepared before I take it in to a mechanic. I have both a new alternator and water pump as my car has over 170000 miles on it.About how much does it cost to have a radiator flushed and the thermostat replaced on a 2004 Ford Mustang? For both....a shop is probably going to get you for @ $75- $100

They both are really simple procedures in the automotive world.

I suggest you look up a local person on Craigslist.com and see if they will do it cheaper.

The radiator engine flush can be done with a garden hose in your front yard.

Heat the engine up a bit and then shut it down

Disconnect the top radiator hose from the radiator side.

wire the end of the hose out of the way. (hot water will be pouring out )

crank the engine

Hold a water hose in the radiator hole with the engine running ( at the same place you took the hose off of)

the water will run through the radiator .......through the engine...and the hot water will pour out on the ground from the end of the disconnected top radiator hose.

Once it runs clear......shut it down......open up the drains on the radiator to drain out the water and fill it back up with coolant mix.

The shops down here charge $60 just for the coolant flush alone.....and thats how it's doneAbout how much does it cost to have a radiator flushed and the thermostat replaced on a 2004 Ford Mustang? It should not be too expensive.
