My water has suddenly got scalding hot, too hot to shower. Could it be the thermostat and how would i check?

Had a shower this morning only to find that the water was scalding hot however much i added cold. Also noticed last time i put central heating on that the radiators were too hot to touch. Could this be the thermostat and is there a way i could check this? thank you.My water has suddenly got scalding hot, too hot to shower. Could it be the thermostat and how would i check?Turn down the adjustment on the water heater. If that doesn't help, call a plumber or Heating and Air professional. My water has suddenly got scalding hot, too hot to shower. Could it be the thermostat and how would i check? If it suddenly got scalding and wasn't a gradual change, that could be a big problem. Hopefully you just need to lower the setting on the home's water heater. If that doesn't work, it could be a bad water heater, or some other plumbing problem which will unfortunately not be inexpensive.

Try lowering the temperature setting on the water heater first. My water has suddenly got scalding hot, too hot to shower. Could it be the thermostat and how would i check?Since you already tried to turn it down to no avail, I would guess that the thermostat is broken/worn out. You need to have it replaced. It isn't a real difficult job as long as you have the correct replacement part.My water has suddenly got scalding hot, too hot to shower. Could it be the thermostat and how would i check? You need to replace the thermostat on your water heater. It needs to be fixed or the pressure release valve will go on the heater and you will have water all over the place.

You can check it if it is gas by checking to see if the burner ever goes off. With electric it will just get hotter.
