What are "Heating cycles per hour" of a digital thermostat.?

Describe everything you know about %26quot;Heating cycles per hour%26quot; of a digital thermostat. How are they used?

I have a Honeywell digital thermostat on my pellet stove. I'm trying to figure out what the optimal setting should be.

Why is 2 used for steam and 6 used electric heat? What are %26quot;Heating cycles per hour%26quot; of a digital thermostat.?Heating cycles refers to the amount of times the heat comes on in an hour and how long it stays on in the same hour. Basically how much on how much off is a cycle. The reason for the difference in the electric and the steam heat is that even when th steam is off there is a residual amount of heat from the radiator for a few minutes. When the electric goes off the heat immediately goes off.
