Why did my gas fitter say I needed no room thermostat?

I have always had a room thermostat until I had a new combi boiler recently. As I like to keep my house at a temp of at least 12 to 15 degrees at night, I feel I need a stat. How easy is it to have one fitted? My calls to the fitter have been ignored so far and I feel that as he has had the big money from me, that he just doesnt want to be bothered with the small stuff. Why did my gas fitter say I needed no room thermostat?Ring corgi and trading standards and report him, it has been regulation since 2003 that boilers MUST have a room thermostat as part of the benchmark/boiler interlock provision. If you look at the benchmark booklet for the boiler (either a blue and white a5 size book, or the last 2 pages of the installation manual) it doesnt give an option for not fitting a room stat, if he didnt leave these with you, this is also against regulations, put his name on here, that will get a message to him.Why did my gas fitter say I needed no room thermostat? You have to have either a room stat or thermostatic radiator valves or you cannot control the heat in your home. Call in another plumber, it sounds like you say only wants the big bucks. Check to see if there should have been a thermostat on the original contract. There is normally a stat on the boiler itself but this is used to stop the boiler over heating. Why did my gas fitter say I needed no room thermostat? It may be because he has difficulty getting an electrician. or

usually a room stat would be positioned in the coldest room in the house which is normally the hall of the internal front door area so it can be adjusted when your heading out, but away from direct drafts and sunlight. running the wire may have been a big job or hes just doesnt want to fit it and if the job was a price he should of presented you with an offer price with a list of the works to be done , if your happy with his work, next time he gives you a price to list all jobs to be done so you kno when its finished all work is agreed
