How easy is it to install a thermostat in a house?

Our house has no thermostat, just a central heating/hot water timer switch. How easy would it be to have one installed, and how much is it likely to cost?How easy is it to install a thermostat in a house?Unfortunately many heating installers omit wall mounted thermostats as they think that thermostatic radiator valves are sufficient. They do still have a use, in that they can lower the overall temperature during periods of non occupation, which is much better than turning the heating completely off. It is a simple job to install one., it will require 2 or 3 core cable depending on the type selected. Normal stats need 3 core due to having an 'anticipator' in the stat. An electronic type normally only requires two core cable. I recommend a Honeywell CM67rf programmable thermostat for full control, these are available to operate wirelessly from anywhere in the house, which keeps the wiring to the vicinity of the existing controls.

It is easy to fit if you can work out the electrical wiring, but it seems strange that you do not have one, presumably you are on a gravity system, in which case it may not be possible, would need to know more about your system first
