Thermostat appears to be working, but the central heater is not ?

Fan switch is set to AUTO, when i move system switch from OFF to HEAT position, i could hear the electrical relay switch in the thermostat, but the heater would not turn on. No air is blowing. Was working before. Tried reset the central power furnance switch in the garage, still the same. Central AC is still working. Any ideas what the problem maybe or suggestions on how to trouble shoot ?Thermostat appears to be working, but the central heater is not ?It's impossible to tell you without more information but furnaces are designed with serveral fail safe factors. If you hear the relay kick in then there is power. Is the gas turned on to the furnace. Is there a pilot light? Is the pilot light lit or does it ignite after the thermostat calls for heat? If you move the fan switch to on does the fan run? You indicate that the AC works so try taking the door off the furnace and jumping the R and W terminals on the furnace. If the furnace starts up, you have a bad stat. If not, it could be a multitude of other things. Feel free to email me.Thermostat appears to be working, but the central heater is not ?Two things...

Is the unit outside running. I lived in an apartment and somehow people could turn it off outside.

Then see if the switch is flipped in the light panel box. Mabye a breaker switched off.Thermostat appears to be working, but the central heater is not ?If you haven't done anything to the thermostat recently then, check all the fuses or breakers. There has to be an interruption somewhere along the line or the thermostat itself went to heck which is not unheard of.Thermostat appears to be working, but the central heater is not ?hmmm,,I think ur relay box is defected
