What does the 2nd thermostat inside a frost-free refrigerator do that has a single compressor?

The thermostat inside the freezer turns on and off the single compressor of the fridge. The fan blows some cool air from the freezer to the fridge (this is the way how the fridge becomes cool). I was wondering what the 2nd thermostat (inside the fridge) is used for? There is a single compressor and there is not any separate fan for the fridge unit. what is the work of the 2nd thermostat? does it have any use or is it a dummy :DWhat does the 2nd thermostat inside a frost-free refrigerator do that has a single compressor? It controls airflow from the freezer to the refrigerator compartment. It in not really a thermostat, rather it is just an air valve it adjusts. What does the 2nd thermostat inside a frost-free refrigerator do that has a single compressor? It controls the temp in the fridge probably by running the fan at needed without starting the compressor.
