How to replace 3-wire room thermostat with 2-wire version?

My current thermostat appears to have 3 wires (and no earth?) marked 1, 2 and 3. 1 goes to live while 2 and 3 both go to neutral. Only difference between 2 and 3 is that they go either side of a resistor according to the diagram.

Would this be easy to wire to a 2-wire digital thermostat or do I need to swap like-for-like?

Hope someone can help! How to replace 3-wire room thermostat with 2-wire version?Swap like for like. There is not enough information to tell me what is going on there. Is this 24 VDC? Is the new part compatible with the old part? Same make and model? Far easier to get HVAC maint man there to look at make sure.....How to replace 3-wire room thermostat with 2-wire version?Swap like for like. How to replace 3-wire room thermostat with 2-wire version?Check at the business end (hearing unit) you will probably find that one of the 2 wires on the same terminal is not being used, normaly there is a RED, WHITE and sometimes a 'GREEN%26quot; which is fan only for a compatable unit, if so its the red and white wire that are used, the thermostat is really only a switch.
