How much should I expect to pay for a water pump and thermostat to be replaced on a 2000 Jeep Gr. Cherokee?

My car needs a new water pump and thermostat for a 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo 2wd, inline V6. Was wondering if anyone knows what the going cost of replacing them would be so I don't get ripped off. I know I can buy the parts myself for about 75 bucks at NAPA or any parts store, including gaskets etc. But how much should I expect to pay for the labor? How much should I expect to pay for a water pump and thermostat to be replaced on a 2000 Jeep Gr. Cherokee? It's too easy not to do this yourself. Contact an independent auto repair shop and ask for a quote. New car dealers are getting $80. - $90. dollars an hour for labor these days. It would take 1.5 -2.0 hours to do this job. Your particular motor is most likely the easiest to work on because there are no accessories to remove to replace the pump. A new pump from Chrysler would cost about 50% more. How much should I expect to pay for a water pump and thermostat to be replaced on a 2000 Jeep Gr. Do the math, add the cost of the parts, and you've got it. Or just ask for an estimate. That works too.How much should I expect to pay for a water pump and thermostat to be replaced on a 2000 Jeep Gr. Cherokee?Something to keep in mind. Do not buy the inexpensive pump at the local auto parts store. You can pick up a pump for 30 bucks but they crap out in about 3,000 miles, ask how I know. They have a lifetime warranty so they will give you a new one for free but who wants to put a water pump on every 3,000 miles? I ended up picking one up from the dealer which ran me about $120 but it is still running strong, money well spent in my opinion. new t-stat %26lt;$20. Total cost if you do it yourself will be about $160. Need some RTV and other minor things. Look into a tefba radiator filter, very easy to install and it will protect your radiator from the little pieces of gasket and RTV or any thing else that is in your cooling system. Switch to DISTILLED water mixed with coolant. Just remember that you always have to top it off with distilled water, not tap or hose water.
