How would i know if my central heating thermostat has broken?

I havent been able to get hot water or heating for a week. But today the radiators were slightly warmer then usual, one even heated up abit at the bottom but then went cold again. The boiler isignited but it wont flare up like it does when i put the heating on. Could this be something to do with the thermostat??How would i know if my central heating thermostat has broken? To check if the heating works, turn up the thermostat, stick the programmer on. Check to see if you can hear the pump running. If it does then that tells you the stat works and so does the programmer, the fault maybe with the boiler or the mid position valve (3 port valve). If nothing happens it could be the programmer at fault.

To be honest you need a test meter and some knowlage of the system, and yes as you may suspect, you will need a corgi plumber or electricien.

You can see if a stat works mechanically by turning it up and down, you will hear a click sound.

Hope this helps, if not you can go to the corgi web site and look for an engineer near youHow would i know if my central heating thermostat has broken?A thermostat is simply a break in the circuit. Touch the two wires together and the furnace should click on. If it doesn't then the thermostat is not the problem. The hot water tank is another story. Is it gas for electric? How would i know if my central heating thermostat has broken? It's most likely the flame rollout safety switch, or spill switch.

Turn the t-stat off %26amp; the power to the boiler off.

Pull the access covers off of the front of the boiler %26amp; look for a small round disc with a red button in the middle of it.

This should be located right on the outside of the burner assembly (typical location).

Push the red button in, it should click in slightly.

Restore the power %26amp; observe the boiler to see if it fires up, as it should. Replace the front covers.

The boiler should run as normal however, if it does it again, call a licensed professional as there's another problem such as a restricted flue pipe.

Hope this was helpful, good luck!!
